Biography:
Dr. Eliot Franklin, known as Thunderball, is a Marvel Comics villain associated with the Wrecking Crew. His first appearance was in The Defenders v1 #17 (November 1974).
Franklin was a brilliant physicist working on gamma radiation research. During an experiment, he encountered Dirk Garthwaite, the Wrecker, who transferred mystical energy into Franklin and his other associates. This bestowed upon Franklin superhuman strength, durability, and a virtually indestructible wrecking ball attached to a chain.
As Thunderball, he became a key member of the Wrecking Crew, often clashing with various Marvel heroes including the Avengers, the Hulk, and Spider-Man. Though possessing immense power, Thunderball's intellect often led to friction within the Wrecking Crew, as his strategic thinking conflicted with the Wrecker's brute force leadership.
Despite his villainous activities, Thunderball occasionally demonstrated a conflicted nature, sometimes hinting at a desire to use his intellect for more positive pursuits. However, he remains primarily defined by his role within the Wrecking Crew and his battles against the forces of good.
